6 Favorite Breakfast Room Or Casual Dining Design Ideas

Posted by Alexa Lerner on Mar 3, 2016 9:26:00 AM

From eat-in kitchens to separate cozy nooks, here are some of our favorite breakfast room, or casual dining, design ideas.

6 Favorite Breakfast Room Or Casual Dining Design Ideas

1. Mix Up The Look

Mix up the seating for a more informal look. Here, the dark wood bench adds a rustic feel next to the sleek leather dining chairs, and offers an additional place at the table, too.

2. Fit The Space

Choose a table that fits the space. For example, this rectangular table is the right size and shape to allow for traffic flow and easy access to the doors to the screened-in porch and outside deck.

3. Carry Over The Style

If your breakfast area is part of the kitchen, carry over the style from one space to the other. In this kitchen, the dining table and chairs were selected to blend with the traditional style cabinetry, and the fabric for the window treatments was repeated in the breakfast area for a cohesive look.

4. Make It A Relaxing Space

If your space allows, create a separate breakfast and casual seating area. This dining area is adjacent to a cozy nook with a fireplace and TV where it is comfortable to hang-out after a delicious meal.

5. Tuck The Table Out Of The Way

An alcove makes the perfect place to tuck your table out of the traffic flow in your kitchen area. This picturesque spot is the perfect place to dine and look out the windows to the lovely backyard.

6. Bridge The Space

If your dining space lies between your kitchen and your family room, consider adding low cabinetry with bookshelves to divide the space without disturbing the sight line.
